Roit. I own one now but am slightly angered that I have version 1.5 and have to wait for the phone company/Google to upgrade me to 2.0, especially as 2.1 is out already. So my question is has anyone here rooted their phone and not in the sexual way either. I'm considering it as I think I need 2.1 to work on some html 5 app. Though the thing holding me back is that I only got the phone as I wanted a camera and an mp3 player so don't want to bawk it up so I can use it for work.

Anyway, I have a Windows Mobile phone, so can't really offer much advice, though Android will probably be my next phone thing.
If it's a HTC phone you could czech out http://www.xda-developers.com as they will no doubt have some haxx0red ROM for your handset.

That there Facebook told me you were using some Android app, the dirty liar. Alas I've got a Samsung Behold 2, Samsung just announced they won't upgrade the OS beyond 1.6 and it's caused outrage. I'm a bit pissed off about it but the phone was free so I can't moan too much.

I have an android phone which is the HTC legend. It rules. Also you can custom ROMs from the internet and the best place I've found is the xda-developers site. The only problem you may have is the phone could be quite old and no one wants to make custo ROMs for it.

Nah the phone is fairly new, about 6 months old, the problem is Samsung have pretty much abandoned it as they've released newer phones already. It's got 1.6 now but that's as far as they'll go yet they won't release the driver source for people to work on new ROMs and without them there's not much they can do. Learnt my lesson and won't buy a Samsung phone again. Luckily mine was free but the wife's was $350. Stuck with them for another 22 months.

How about selling it on ebay and getting another phone. Thats the way I get new handsets. You don't have to shell out loads of dosh all the time that way.

I thought about it but I lose interest in phones too easily so not sure I can be arsed with the hassle of selling it for a day or two of playing with another phone before it gets ignored.
